Focus on Environment at Wood Products & Technology

This year’s Wood Products & Technology will be a manifestation of an industry that takes the environmental threat and climate targets seriously.

“Wood is climate-neutral. If you build with timber, carbon dioxide emissions are zero. The technology and the raw material are available. It’s only the political will that’s lacking. It’s time to highlight the industry and show both politicians and the Swedish people how important it is, not only for Sweden’s future but also for the environment,” said business manager Stefan Sundquist.

“We want to show the technology and opportunities for building and creating in timber – from furniture to bridges and high-rises. If the Swedish government and parliament took environmental targets seriously, they would turn their eyes towards Gothenburg from 2 to 5 September and discover the dynamism and innovative force in this industry, which uses the most eco-friendly raw material available – wood.

“We also want to attract and encourage young people to enter an industry that is capturing country after country with its exports and its super-strong brands. The wood industry stands for both growth and sustainability, and that’s something we want to highlight at Wood Products & Technology – show what ‘Made in Sweden’ really stands for.”
