Gdansk and ICCA

Gdansk Convention Bureau/GTO has been a member of ICCA for over five years and is the only organization from Pomerania that is a member.  It actively engages in all Association activities, promoting Gdansk and Region in the international business tourism arena.

What does ICCA membership give Gdansk? "PR, contacts, professional networks, the possibility to learn from other members, exchange ideas. What's really important is you get access to the international database of association meetings," says Anna Gorska, CEO of the GCB/GTO. "ICCA membership also offers the possibility to be part of the forum of experts and visibility of Gdansk as an attractive conference destination."  Gorska adds that, as in any other organization, you must be active to take full advantage of the membership possibilities.

This year ICCA celebrates its fiftieth birthday. At IMEX, the GCB team prepared a special surprise. GCB representatives wore t-shirts with the slogan 'Happy Birthday ICCA' and 'Fifty & Fabulous' on the back. More than 300 people, members of ICCA, had a chance to see it during ICCA Happy Hour.

Gdansk is also present and active in the management structure of ICCA. CEO of the GCB/GOT Anna Gorska is a chairperson of the ICCA Central European Chapter as a volunteer. Her duties include representing the Central European Chapter during ICCA meetings and the organization of the chapter's meetings at least twice a year, during the General Assembly and Congress as well as the summer meeting. Two of these meetings were held last week before the IMEX. The next meeting of the Central European Chapter will be held in August in St. Petersburg, Russia.
