Next Textile 2010: The future meets in Borås
Next Textile Borås is a unique venture by the City of Borås where development and opportunities in textiles are given full focus for two days – a new exciting chapter in the history of the entrepreneurially strong region. The goal is ambitious; Swedish regions Borås and Sjuhärad will be the leading destinations for national and international interests within textile and design.

”We want to create the best possible conditions for everyone in the textile industry generate really good business; make new contacts, find new markets and customers, hear about the latest trends, or just be inspired by some of the leading entrepreneurs and innovators in the world. Next Textile Borås offers something for everyone – whether you are a local manufacturer, a design student from India or a wool producer from Australia”, says Ulrik Nilsson, chairman of the city executive board of Borås.

Next Textile Borås is arranged for 24-25 May. Conferences, company visits, textile award ceremony and matchmaking are on the agenda. This event will be a regular element in positioning Borås as the textile capital.

FutureDesignDays

An important element of Next Textile Borås is matchmaking, tailor-made meetings between companies. Next Textile Borås also offers a different conference experience where interactivity and openness are key words. The seminars are arranged by FutureDesignDays.

“I am convinced that this venture will mean a great deal for the future of the region; the international response has been above expectation. Delegates from Australia, Germany and Bangladesh have already confirmed their presence. Now it is up to businesses in the region to seize the opportunities”, says Christian Alçenius, MD for FutureLab and responsible for FutureDesignDays.

Next Textile Borås is owned and operated by Borås City Trade and Industry office in close collaboration with the municipality of Sjuhärad’s associations and Smart Textiles. The collaborating partners, the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås and the Nordic Design School, Invest in Sjuhärad, FutureLab, FutureDesignDays, The EcoCotton Co, BoråsBorås, Borås Tidning, the Fashion Council, The Textile and Clothing Industry and the Australian Trade Commission, are all involved in Next Textile Borås.
