Uppsala: Local Hosts Generate More Congresses to Uppsala

Statistics show that more than 150 organisational and association meetings yearly chose Uppsala as their meeting destination. The statistics cover the year 2012, meetings hosted in Uppsala with at least one overnight stay. It shows that Uppsala has had another strong year as a meeting destination. The statistics secures Uppsalas third place nationally, after Stockholm and Gothenburg but it also places the city among the world's one hundred premier meeting destinations.

"We see an even balance between national and international meetings over the year, and they’ve all have had a local ambassadorship as a prerequisite to be hosted in Uppsala. It's great to see that our local hosts have such a strong commitment and appreciate the effect of hosting a congress, for their university, institution and their own personal brand. We as a convention bureau are more than happy to support them in the work of bidding for and hosting a congress," said Anna Lindström, Manager at Uppsala Convention Bureau.
