Merge opens the door for HPN Global

Two meeting industry organisations merge to create ‘the most global site selection & venue finding company. The new organisation offers site selection and venue finding through local experienced associates and a proprietary concierge style central sourcing procurement model.

HPN Global, a new joint venture between Meetings International, the international site selection company, and HPN (Hospitality Performance Network), the fastest growing site selection and meetings procurement company in North America, will be launched on 1 March 2010 to create the world’s most global site selection and venue finding company.

HPN and Meetings International, which together have more than 19 years of combined service to the meeting industry, have rebranded as HPN Global. The company’s headquarters will be based in Scottsdale, Arizona and will provide the best-in-class service to clients around the world supported by major regional offices in London, Brussels & Hong Kong.

Bob Gilbert, executive vice president of HPN Global, commented: “The key benefits that HPN Global will bring to the marketplace is the high calibre of personal service delivered by our international site selection and venue finding professionals who have (on average) 15 years hotel sales experience. HPN Global is able to offer a true ‘boutique’ experience with single point of contact, through central procurement, for clients and venues to ensure the highest levels of service. Our specially developed customised tools, such as our industry leading HPN RFP platform, which operates at no charge to venues, is another market first helping to improve efficiency in the RFP process. We are also able to offer the best rates backed up by our longstanding relationships with leading hotel chains together with the added advantage of buying power of over US$150 million. HPN Global also offers non-binding client agreements demonstrating our confidence in the deals and relationships we forge, based on the many years our highly professional associates have been operating.”

Commenting on the team that will run HPN Global, Bob Gilbert commented: “Beyond the latest technology and most economical platforms, HPN Global’s strengths lie in its unique, talented and seasoned site selection and venue finding professionals. We’re a new breed of site selection and venue finding company based on recruiting the industry’s best. We don’t want to be the biggest, but strive to be the best.”

Demonstrating that HPN Global is putting this recruitment policy into practice, renowned industry leader Kip Horton has joined as senior vice president international, EMEA and India. Kip, who has 25 years high level industry experience, commented: “HPN Global is a talented and forward thinking organisation. This is a new world and bureaucratic companies do not have the ability to change quickly and adapt. HPN Global understands what it takes to succeed with the customer, as well as their hotel partners, and they deliver the kind of support that sales associates really need to effectively bring the maximum value for all parties. I have vast experience with building and supporting sales teams and I sincerely look forward to being part of a team that will become the best venue finding and site selection provider in the world.”

Horton will be responsible for leading HPN Global’s growth by building and supporting a team while maintaining and strengthening relationships with corporate and association accounts in the region. He will also be proactively cultivating his long-standing industry relationships throughout the region to continue to grow the worldwide effectiveness of HPN Global’s proprietary central sourcing procurement model.

Supporting Kip is Thomas Hallin, VP UK/Ireland and Northern Europe. Most recently Thomas headed up strategic sales teams for Marriott’s multi-national clients. Joseph Toh, who will be based in Hong Kong, is VP Sales, Asia-Pacific. He has extensive hotel background including senior positions within China’s Marriott and Le Meridien Hotels among many others.

Kip Horton commented: “We are all excited to be part of what will be a global leader in site selection and venue finding.”
