2011 was the most successful year in the Congress Center Leipzig's (CCL) history. Over 77 congresses organised by external operators were held, with a total of 78,000 participants. In addition, 16 scientific and technical programmes were hosted that accompanied trade exhibitions in Leipzig and saw altogether 18,000 participants. The volume of sales amounted to EUR 5.3 million (2010: EUR 4.3 million). The opening of new four and five star hotels also had a positive effect on the acquisition of international congresses.
The CCL is among the most modern congress centres of Europe. Its calendar primarily lists congresses from the fields of medicine, politics, and IT services. In 2011, the 50th ICCA World Congress with more than 1,000 participants from 70 countries beat all records. The project ‘Green Traffic’ of the public transport company Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) provided sustainable highlights during the most important meeting of the meeting industry.
