Christoph Tessmar, Congress Manager at Sanofi-Aventis over the past few years has been appointed the director of the Barcelona Convention Bureau (BCB) after the announcement of the retirement of Airy Garrigosa, who has headed the BCB since its creation in 1983.
Tessmar, a German by birth with a degree in business administration, began his career at Boehringer Mannheim Laboratories, a company that sent him to Spain. He assumed the organisation of conferences for the laboratory until the purchase of Boehringer Mannheim by Roche in 1998. A year later he was hired by Sanofi-Aventis to manage and create the conference department in Spain.
After thirteen years as Congress Manager, he leaves his former position to take over as director of the Barcelona Convention Bureau.
