The Philadelphia Convention And Visitors Bureau (PCVB) has unveiled a full suite of mobile tools, making Philadelphia more easily accessible
Visitors from around the world, convention attendees and residents now have four ways to discover Philadelphia on their mobile devices.
ExplorePHL.mobi is a new mobile site that looks like a smartphone application, but is actually a mobile website available on any Internet-enabled device.
Among its functionalities are: Geolocation services - which display places that are closest to a user's location, a calendar of events, deals from local businesses, mapping and more, all available from any smartphone device.
A new iPad app allows users to download the Philadelphia Official Visitors Guide for free. The app has everything needed for exploring Philadelphia and can be found by searching “Philadelphia Official Visitors Guide” in the iTunes store. Updates occur seasonally.
In addition to explore PHL.mobi, the Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC), a division of the PCVB, created PhillyCulture, that tells Philadelphia’s multicultural story.
Another new tool for convention attendees and visitors is a mobile marketing platform that promotes deals through a Short Message System (SMS) and app.
The PCVB has partnered with The MeNetwork on this free service so convention attendees and visitors to Philadelphia can now retrieve special offers via text message or through MeNetwork's app for smartphones and tablets.
The text service is a "pull" system, meaning it only delivers information to the visitor when requested, thereby ensuring timeliness, relevancy and no spam for the visitor. In effect, the visitor decides when they want to be marketed to and what they want to see.
