Christoph Voegeli Named GM of Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort and Spa

Meritus Hotels & Resorts (MHR), the hospitality division of Singapore Exchange-listed Overseas Union Enterprise (OUE), has announced the appointment of Christoph Voegeli as General Manager of the award-winning Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi – Meritus’ flagship resort in Malaysia.

Christoph joins Meritus Hotels & Resorts following his assignment with the InterContinental Hotels Group as General Manager of Holiday Inn Melaka. He brings with him extensive experience in operations and management of five-star hotels and resorts around Asia, including, amongst others, Swiss-Belhotel International’s Hanoi Horison Hotel, Aerowisata’s Hotel Sanur Beach in Bali, Rembrandt Hotel and Towers in Bangkok, and Carlton Hotel Singapore.

“We are delighted to have Christoph on board driving Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa forward, particularly with the exciting new enhancements being carried out at the resort,” commented Michael Sengol, Chief Executive Officer of Meritus Hotels & Resorts.

“Guided by Christoph’s industry expertise and capable leadership, we will soon unveil the ultimate tropical holiday destination on famed Cenang beach - establishing new hospitality benchmarks on the island of Langkawi through our refreshed facility and our brand promise of Asian Grace, Warmth, and Care.”

Christoph began his hospitality career with InterContinental hotels in Luxembourg and Switzerland, respectively. A German national, he received his Diploma in Hotel Management from Hotelis Hotelfachschule Sudliche Weinstrasse in Germany, and completed his MBA studies from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia.
