The Austria Center Vienna (ACV) has announced that eight free electric car charging points are due to enter service this summer. In future it will be possible to “fill up” electric cars in the ACV’s underground car park using power connections or safety sockets. It will take seven to eight hours for a full charge.
“Delegates who drive to a conference in an electric car will be able to use our convenient car park and ‘fill up’ free of charge. They will save time and money – and do their bit for the environment, since almost 95% of our electricity is hydro power,” said ACV CEO Thomas Rupperti.
The new move is one of many examples of the ACV's ecological trendsetting. The centre is the only Austrian convention centre with a germ-free ventilation system, uses well water instead of drinking water to flush its toilets, has a solar water heating system, and is in the process of going over to LED lighting.
The price of an all-day ticket at the underground car park at the ACV remains at EUR 10, and regulars pay EUR 65 per month.
