Vienna’s two latest successful acquisitions are expected to produce 30,000 bednights and contribute 18 million euros to the Austrian GDP.
In 2012, the Passenger Terminal EXPO & Conference will focus on the growing importance of airport security. Some 3,500 CEOs, architects, engineers and decision-makers from the airport industry will convene at the Messe Wien Exhibition & Congress Center from April 18–20, 2012. At the 12,000 m² centre, they will present the latest developments in the design, management, security and technology of airport terminals. Around 80 nations will be represented at the EXPO.
The World Psychiatric Association has also decided to hold its international congress in the Austrian capital from October 27–30, 2013. In 2013 – exactly 30 years after the 1983 World Congresses of Psychiatry, which was also staged in Vienna – some 5,000 specialists will gather at the Austria Center Vienna to discuss the latest developments in their field.
“These two large-scale events will generate at total of 30,000 bednights for Vienna and contribute around 18 million euros to Austria’s gross domestic product,” said Christian Mutschlechner, Director of the Vienna Convention Bureau at the Vienna Tourist Board. “This success has been made possible by the close cooperation between the organisers, the congress centres involved – Austria Center Vienna and Reed Messe Wien – and the Vienna Convention Bureau.”
