Hotel Bella Sky Comwell in Copenhagen, Denmark, which opens on 16 May 2011, will be the first hotel in Europe with an entire floor dedicated to women. The floor, which the hotel says “caters to women's special needs”, has been named Bella Donna and is only accessible with women’s keycards. The hotel's management surveyed a number of influential and well-travelled Danish women on the need for the floor and over half said that they would prioritise staying on a women’s floor. There were three primary reasons for this choice: it provides a sense of security, it feels more hygienic to know that the previous guest was also a woman, and they prefer rooms tailored to women’s needs.
