The Jumeriah Group will soft open its first hotel in the Asia Pacific in Shanghai, China on 30 March 2011. The Jumeriah Himalayas Hotel, which is designed by renowned architect Arata Isozaki, is part of the Himalayas Center, a new arts and cultural hub in the Pudong District of Shanghai.
The 401-room hotel infuses modern luxury with Chinese soul and classic Chinese feng shui elements and features direct underground access to both the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and the citywide metro system. It is also within walking distance of the Maglev train station, which takes commuters to Pudong International Airport in seven minutes.
The hotel also features four restaurants and lounges, two ballrooms that can accommodate 1,330 persons and a 5,000 sqm rooftop garden with a 300 sqm event stage.
