Two More Wins for Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

The International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) will bring its bi-annual congress to Malaysia for four days from 9 – 12 September 2012 following the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s (the Centre) successful bid to host the congress.

The bi-annual event is the biggest and most important peritoneal dialysis meeting in Asia with the 14th ISPD Congress 2012 expected to bring approximately 2,000 delegates to Kuala Lumpur.

Established in 1978, the main aim of the ISPD is to advance knowledge of peritoneal dialysis and to promote the advancement of such knowledge through international scientific meetings and scientific publications.

Another international conference recently clinched by the Centre is the Student In Free Enterprise (SIFE) World Cup 2011 which will be held for the first time in Malaysia from 3 – 5 October 2011.

Expected to draw an international network of 1,500 students, academics and business leaders and showcase the impact SIFE teams are achieving worldwide, the three-day competition will include multiple activities and events aimed at providing opportunities for participants to connect, collaborate and learn from one another.

Be it medical or education, the ISPD 2012 and SIFE World Cup 2011 wins prove the Centre continues to be the venue of choice for a range of industries that are closely aligned to Malaysia’s key economic focus areas such as oil and gas, education, retail, entertainment, engineering, design and medicine/healthcare.

Expressing his delight that international organisations continue to consider Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre as their destination of choice for their gatherings, Datuk Peter Brokenshire, General Manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, said, "Kuala Lumpur is an attractive destination with excellent infrastructure, transport links, pre and post touring options and, it remains good value for money for delegates.

”We look forward to working with ISPD and SIFE and their local representatives to make their event a success because, their success is our success.”

Since its opening in June 2005 through to July 2010, the Centre has been the venue of choice for 3,377 events and welcoming over 9.2 million delegates and visitors. This in turn, has contributed approximately RM2.6 billion in economic impact to Kuala Lumpur city and Malaysia.
