Malmö to get a new trade show facility
Malmö is getting a new trade show facility, the Malmö Expo Center. Midroc Property Development will be both the building contractor and property owner of the new Expo Center adjacent to Malmö Arena and the City Tunnel Station in Hyllie. The entire facility will be 16, 000 square meters and in addition to the exhibition hall, will also include four large meeting rooms with a capacity of 800 and a restaurant. Construction is expected to start early next year and will be completed in February 2012, when the first trade show is booked.

The Belgian company, Artexis Group, will be responsible for the operation of the center through its subsidiary, Artexis Nordic AB. Artexis is a reputable international company, which operates both trade show facilities and develops trade show concepts throughout Europe.

“The trade show facility will further strengthen Hyllie and will have a great deal of significance for tourism and event activities in the entire Malmö region,” says Ilmar Reepalu, chairman of the municipal council.

“We have gotten two strong players that will build and develop the new trade show facility. The Malmö Expo Center will be able to handle large public and professional trade shows as well as other events that require large areas,” says Lars Carmén, tourism director in Malmö.
