Congrex will open a Vancouver office in the last quarter of 2010. Adriana Spitteler, who has held the position of Managing Director for Congrex Travel AG in Basel since 1994 will head up this new office.

”The North American meetings and events industry is very active and brings good revenue to Canada through local and international associations. Although there are many professional organisers, Congrex feels there is still opportunity for new players to pitch in with specialised services, value added services and post event services”, said Layth Bunni, CEO Congrex.

Adriana Spitteler agrees: “There clearly is an opportunity for new entrants in Canada, looking at the number of events organised there. By offering unique services and partnering with associations we will try to convince the Canadian market of our unique approach.”

Vancouver is chosen as a strategic location as it has become more and more popular in recent years. The recently re-opened Vancouver Convention Centre has tripled in size and Vancouver is proud to host the 2010 Olympic & Paralympics Winter Games, on top if this ICCA (the International Congress and Convention Association) has even ranked Vancouver as North America's Top destination for international meetings. From Vancouver Adriana will focus on the North American region.
